Project Independence

This specialized four week program was launched in January 2007 in collaboration with the YWCA Chester County. Open to Home of the Sparrow residents, graduates and low income women throughout the community, Project Independence is a free, interactive course in personal finance, which empowers women to make effective financial decisions. Using Money Smart, a curriculum created by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), women develop skills in:

  • Budgeting
  • Opening and maintaining checking and savings accounts
  • Managing credit safely
  • Saving for permanent housing
The program is offered four times per year at the YWCA Computer Center and is free-of-charge. For more information and to register for the next session, call 610-692-3737.
